Setting yourself up for success.

Writer: coachedbycashelcoachedbycashel

Yes, it’s that time of year again. We are well and truly back to normality and are making the most of the societal buzz to further enhance our health and fitness. At this stage, we are almost 4 weeks into the new year - maybe the initial burst of motivation is starting to dwindle! In this article I will reflect on some points I have made in a previous article when it comes to creating sustainable habits!

Make it convenient.

When it comes to managing your diet between work, study, or even picking up the kids from school, it can be tricky to balance without a sustainable set up. Something that most could probably implement is having a protein source such as a protein bar or shake with you in the car for whenever you feel peckish and feel the urge to grab a less goal orientated snack from a shop you are passing by. Having nutritious goal orientated foods in a convenient place for when you’re out and about can be a helpful way of remaining consistent with your given diet.

Make an excuse to walk.

If we find we are sitting for longer periods of the day, we must find a way to get us on our feet more. Making an excuse to walk places rather than an excuse not to is the mindset needed here. Is your school/college/work within a safe walking distance? Why not use this to bump up your activity level. If you drive, why not park slightly further away so that you can bump up your activity level on the way from the car.

Time management is your ally.

As we become more constrained by schedule, it can be helpful to start blocking out time during the week to get certain things done. Whether this be meal prep, a gym session or some time to relax. It is important that we design a schedule that we can use to become efficient and reduce any stressors that come as a result of poor time management.
