The biggest mistake you can make…

When it comes to your health and fitness, there are a plethora of mistakes individuals can make and inherently…  will make. However, there is one mistake that I believe trumps all others and to a large degree- this breaks my heart. As you sit there on the edge of your seat anticipating the proposal I am making for the biggest mistake, it is likely you are thinking on a different wavelength to which you are thinking of mistakes people often make when it comes to the gym, their diet or other facets of life that relate back to health and fitness.

My argument is for something that runs a little deeper. Something that happens more than we think and many of you reading this might have come across this before yourself or with friends. What I am eluding to here is the decision to not start your health and fitness journey due to limiting beliefs where you tell yourself that you are too old, not strong enough, have an injury of some sort with an array of various reasons to boot in your testimony as to why you can’t begin or get back aboard your health and fitness journey.

In essence, there will never be a perfect time to start working on your health and fitness, whether you are 9 or 90 - there is always a wide array of benefits that will come as a result of making some changes for the better to work on your health and fitness journey. An approach I would encourage individuals from all walks of life to apply - something always better than doing nothing! Struggling to fit in a 60 minute gym session which you feel has become the minimum requirement based on societal norms?  How about 2-4 15 minute gym sessions across the week? In your eyes, who will be better off? The individual who gets in some short gym sessions across the week or someone who will only go if they can get a session in for an hour which might only happen for a few weeks.. if it happens at all!

The more rational eye will accept that life gets busy -  accepting that we may not always have the most optimal dose of exercise on a weekly basis, we must focus on what time we do have and remember that something is so much better than nothing. Your mind and your body will thank you, and it is never too late to get started! The amazing thing about humans is their ability to adapt to their surroundings. I have experienced this working with people in their teens all the way up to some amazing individuals in their nineties. Remember when I said there is no perfect time to start? Well I might have told a lie.. The best time to start.. It is now!
