An easy one to miss the mark on when it comes to your fitness journey especially in the early days. This is when I start to ask clients more reflective questions where they can come to their own conclusions. Maybe they are finding it hard to stick to their plan as their friends or family are not supportive and pressure them into the extra meal out or to stay in watching netflix instead of going to the gym. These are all common barriers when it comes to embarking on your health and fitness journey.
The question that you really have to ask yourself however, is quite simple. Do these people have the same goals as me? Furthermore, are these behaviours taking me closer or further away from my goal? Do I value these behaviours more than the goal itself? As you can see, the logic is quite simply orchestrated through some very straightforward and honest questioning.
In most cases this will challenge us to honestly ask ourselves what we really want. It will also enable us to be that little bit more authoritative in our decision making. What do we really want - and do we value that more than the opinion and/or external opinions of others. In my experience we must be true to what we really want, saying yes too many times to everyone else is more times than not - saying “no” to yourself. In certain cases this might mean that you need to network with more like minded people. Having some people together all pushing towards similar goals will often push you harder and ensure you are holding yourself to a higher standard when it comes to how you approach each day.
There’s always something we can get a little bit better at and improve on week to week. Start living life with a little more intent towards your day. I’t these small wins day to day that compound over time resulting in larger more impressive feats. Don’t let indioviduals with different goals drag you away from your objective. You set your own goals for a reason - because you value them. Prioritise your priorities.
“To get something you’ve never had - you must do things you’ve never done.
