We often tend to focus on the improvements we look to make when it comes to our training and nutrition. Once some reputable structure has been formed here - it is very plausible to start looking at what you are doing to further improve your ability to recover and perform at your best!

When it comes to recovery and performance - there is a lot of crossover in what we do to improve both. A lot can be done when it comes to our diet. Are we consuming enough protein throughout the day to help recover and to assist in the maintenance and building of muscle! Are we having a carbohydrate source before our training to give us sufficient energy to perform at our best? Are we consuming enough water and staying hydrated throughout the day? These are all things we can look to start improving when it comes to both your recovery and your performance!

Next up we can look at what you do outside the gym and away from your diet. Your sleep will be a foundational pillar here when it comes to improving your ability to recover, perform at a higher level while also being a main driver when it comes to our general physical and mental health. Having a sleep routine in place where we are getting approximately seven hours sleep per night is a great place to start. Apart from this, we should look to minimise the amount of stress we are exposed to(where possible) - this might be allocating more time to activities that help you wind down or simply spending more time with friends and family. Taking some time away from your phone can also be a helpful habit to have here.

I firmly believe if you start to prioritise the variables above a little more - you will start to see more of a return on your investment when it comes to your training and nutrition habits. Look to make this a little bit better over time and remember where you started!
