Approaching Christmas week!

Writer: coachedbycashelcoachedbycashel

A conversation I will be having with clients over the next week or so - how to best approach the Christmas period while staying aligned with your health and fitness goals. Likelihood is that we have put some effort into our health and fitness recently - we are now wondering how to best let the hair down and enjoy the Christmas period with the festivities that come alongside it.

I think this does not need to be complicated for the vast majority of people out there! This will naturally depend on the nature and urgency of your goal - but for the most part I would prioritise the following principles to help us sustain our direction!

Input.

To start off I would think about prioritizing protein sources at the start of each meal - ensuring we are opting for a high protein source for each meal will help us to stay goal oriented when it comes to building muscle and losing weight - it will also help us to better manage hunger levels. Another factor I would look to prioritise is hydration. Focusing on water intake during the day should help us to better manage hunger levels, digestion and overall energy levels.

Output.

While it is important to be aware of what we are consuming as stated above - it is also worth noting that our energy output is just as important here when it comes to remaining aligned with most health and fitness goals. This can be as simple as hitting your daily step count and trying to get to the gym once or twice during the week!

The most important step however - enjoy yourself! Ensure you are taking some time to wind down, relax and spend quality time with family and friends. Our relationships and connections with others can be just as important for our health and wellbeing as the other variables mentioned above - don’t take these things for granted.
