An ideal Xmas day for someone looking to keep on top of their health and fitness!

The morning time!

How we start is how we mean to go on!  Having a productive start to your xmas day can help set the tone for the rest of your day. This can be as simple as ensuring we have a solid breakfast with a high protein source thrown in somewhere as well as some water and maybe 1-2 servings of fruit! Maybe spend some time opening some presents with family before heading out for a brisk walk with some family or friends before you get set for the long awaited christmas dinner.

The afternoon.

So you’re sitting down to christmas dinner and you are putting your plate together. While the idea here is to ensure we put a meal together that we enjoy - we can still be proactive in how this meal aligns with our goals. To start we can prioritise our protein source which will be the chicken, turkey, ham or other lean meat sources on the menu at your household. Secondly we can begin to choose your carbohydrate sources - potatoes  mostly making up this selection, let's opt for slightly smaller portions here and go back for seconds if need be. When it comes to the veg - load it up! Pair all of this with some more water and another brisk walk after the meal to help digestion and help to increase our energy expenditure!

The evening!

This is where we can really let the hair down, open that box of chocolates and get down to the usual festivities of setting up the Monopoly board or chasing consensus on which film you will be watching for the evening. If you are drinking, try to aim for a glass of water for every 2 or 3 drinks you consume. Otherwise - enjoy! These guidelines are not set in stone, just a helpful template for how I would personally structure my christmas day for someone who wants to stay somewhat proactive towards their health and fitness during christmas!

Wishing all my readers a very happy and enjoyable Christmas and a Prosperous new year!
