3 simple health and fitness habits!

Writer: coachedbycashelcoachedbycashel

Sometimes this can be the most challenging part when it comes to your health and fitness. Finding and applying simple and effective habits that will fit alongside your current lifestyle. In this article I hope to offer some simple yet effective habits that will help to take us closer to our health and fitness goals!

Step counts!

I harp on about step targets quite often, I cannot emphasise enough the massive effect a daily step target can have on maintaining and increasing physical activity on a daily basis. Increasing our activity can be a tricky barrier to navigate when it comes to dosage and keeping track of current levels. Step count targets allow us to monitor our daily activity and give us a target to hit by the end of each day. Hitting this target on a daily basis helps us to improve a majority of metrics helping us towards weight loss endeavours and improving our cardiovascular fitness - just to name two!

Protein intakes

Increasing the amount of protein we eat in each meal is another very effective habit to get into in order to help promote the maintenance and growth of lean muscle mass - which has been identified as an important variable when it comes to the promotion of health, function and overall longevity, not to mention the decreased risk of certain diseases and health conditions!

Hydrate!

Do you make a conscious effort to sip away at water throughout the day? As simple as this sounds, basic hydration can be often neglected by many in their pursuits to improve their health and wellbeing.. Developing habits where water intake is prioritised throughout the day helps to ensure we are subject to the many benefits of being sufficiently hydrated. This helps with a plethora of bodily functions such as cognitive function, energy, performance, digestion and reducing the risk of certain infections!

As you can see, steps we take to improve our health and wellbeing do not have to be complex. We are simply looking to develop positive health promoting behaviours we can apply within our current lifestyle! Improving our lifestyle doesn’t need to be complicated!

“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” - Confucius
